The Laboratory provides 24/7 services to meet
the clinical needs of inpatients and CMH registered outpatients.
Registered patients may access Laboratory Patient Services between
8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. It is not a public laboratory.
CMH's Laboratory is a licensed, ISO 15189 plus accredited medical laboratory and has a Using Blood Wisely designation. It provides 24/7 services to all clinical programs as needed. Registered CMH patients that are scheduled for treatment must use the Laboratory Patient Services, which can be accessed between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (0800 - 1600h).
The Laboratory at CMH provides the following services to inpatients and CMH clinic patients:
- Core laboratory including chemistry, haematology and transfusion medicine (blood bank)
Please bring any personal assistive devices that you require when you visit Patient Laboratory Services. For example, any communication or mobility device you may need like a walker, hearing aid, etc.
Kindly note that CMH has a no scent policy. Kindly refrain from using or wearing perfumes, scented deodorants and scented products before coming to hospital.
No. Patient Laboratory Services only processes internal requisitions made by CMH doctors, clinicians and staff to ensure fast turnaround times. All outside requisitions, like the ones issued by family physicians and nurse practitioners, must be done in a community-based laboratory (e.g., Life Labs, Dynacare. , etc.).
Many of the tests are scheduled on or close to the day of your treatment, to ensure accuracy. Others may be specialized that require special equipment or a specific set of skills. For these reasons, registered CMH patients must go the Patient Laboratory Services for their tests. If you have any concerns, please speak with your care team.
Park in Lot #4 for quick access to the laboratory or get dropped off at the covered entrance. Enter through the Wing D entrance (#11 on the level 1 map) and go to the Wing D elevator Lobby (#12). Take the elevator down to level 0 and turn right. Patient Laboratory Services is located in Wing D, level 0 in the Outpatient Clinics area. .

If you are only coming in for a Laboratory test, park in Lot #4 and enter the hospital through Wing D. Patients can also be dropped off at the covered entrance in front of Wing D. Always ask the booking clerk where is it is best to park when you come to hospital.
Laboratory Patient Services is located in Wing D, Level 0 in the Outpatient Clinics area. If you enter the hospital at Wing D, go straight (10 metres), turn left and take the elevator on your right down to level 0. Turn right and enter the Outpatient Clinics area.
