Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) recently spoke with CambridgeToday about the significant rise in influenza cases across Waterloo Region. With 650 confirmed cases so far—the highest since before the pandemic—CMH is seeing more flu cases than COVID-19 for the first time in years.
Ellen Otterbein, RN, Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner at CMH, noted that while the increase is significant, it aligns with pre-pandemic flu seasons. CMH encourages staff and the community to protect themselves with the annual flu vaccine, proper hand hygiene, and staying home or masking when unwell.
