Cambridge, ON – Cambridge Memorial Hospital has been recognized as one of Waterloo Area’s Top Employers for the second year in a row. This annual competition, organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., editors of Canada’s Top Employers, recognizes organizations in the Kitchener-Waterloo area that provide exceptional workplaces.
“A strong healthcare organization depends on a strong, supported workforce,” said Susan Toth, Director of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer. “At Cambridge Memorial Hospital, we focus on attracting, developing, and retaining talented people by ensuring they have the teams, tools, and environment they need to succeed. Initiatives like our first-ever Nursing Student Career Fair—attended by more than 100 former CMH students—demonstrate our commitment to building long-term career pathways in healthcare.”
From early career development to long-term career sustainability, CMH invests in staff at every stage. This includes comprehensive training and skills development, wellness-focused supports such as the Paws Program—the country’s first nationally trained service dog dedicated exclusively to supporting hospital staff—and programs that help employees plan confidently for retirement through competitive benefits and pension options.
“Attracting and retaining skilled healthcare professionals requires more than filling roles—it requires creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to stay,” the hospital said in a statement. “Our ongoing investment in staff wellbeing and professional growth is central to our ability to deliver exceptional care to our community.”
Now in its 19th year, the competition evaluates employers across eight criteria: Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.
The full list of winners was announced today (January 13, 2026) in a special online magazine published by the Waterloo Record. Stories and photos highlighting each organization’s initiatives are also available through the competition’s homepage.
