President and CEO Patrick Gaskin joined regional health-care leaders at Waterloo Regional Health Network today for a four-hour visit with Ontario’s Deputy Minister of Health, Deborah Richardson, and two other senior Ministry representatives.
The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the extensive collaboration taking place across our region and the collective work underway to improve access, patient flow and coordination of care.
Patrick shared several examples of CMH’s contributions, including our shared Oracle Health information system with WRHN, regional clinical partnerships and work with the Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team and other community partners. These efforts are helping connect primary care providers with hospital expertise, expand CMH@Home and support early discharge and admission avoidance.
He also spoke about the pressures created by rapid population growth and the importance of planning for the inpatient, diagnostic, dialysis, pharmacy and other services our community will need in the years ahead.
Thank you to everyone who contributed information and helped prepare for the visit. The opportunity to share this work reflects the knowledge, commitment and collaboration of staff, physicians, midwives and volunteers across CMH.
